OFC Framework for Great Places Shared on the Future Cities Africa Podcast

We recently shared the Our Future Cities Framework for Great Places with the Future Cities Africa podcast. Shaped over 15 years, it reflects our Global South approach to analysing and guiding projects, ensuring relevance and effectiveness where widely used international toolkits may fall short.

We apply this framework across a wide range of projects, from public spaces and individual buildings to streets, precincts, and entire neighbourhoods. Our starting point is always an understanding of where society is today and where we hope to go.

Rather than beginning with form or finish, the framework helps reveal what a place already offers and what it truly needs, both now and in the long term. Through our work, we have seen that some places may function well but lack emotional resonance, while others may be well-designed yet missing the presence, identity, or long-term care needed to thrive.
