Site Visit: Johannesburg and Pretoria as sites of change and opportunity

In April, Our Future Cities visited Johannesburg and Pretoria to deepen client relationships, contribute to discussions on spatial transformation, and share our work on place-based performance.

The visit included engagements in Village Deep and Sandton, participation in a Gauteng City-Region Observatory workshop, a visit to the Standard Bank Gallery, and a presentation at a property conference in Centurion. We also spent time assessing walkability and public-realm conditions in Sandton.

The visit was a useful reminder that, despite prevailing pessimism, there remains strong interest in urban strategy, place-based investment and deeper collaboration.
