Rashiq Fataar Discusses Regeneration at The Africa Property Investment Summit 2025

At this year’s Africa Property Investment Summit, Our Future CEO, Rashiq Fataar joined Guy Briggs of dhk Architects and Gareth Pearson from the Mission for the Inner City, to discuss regeneration and the reuse of existing assets.

Rashiq spoke about the technical case for repurposing buildings and infrastructure, while also emphasising the human case: the soul, character and social value that come from retaining and adapting what cities already have.

In response to Gareth’s question about the Olympic Games as a model for regeneration, Rashiq reflected on the long-term transformation of northern Paris, where sustained investment has reshaped entire districts over three decades. Guy noted how London 2012 helped accelerate the global shift towards large-scale, city-led regeneration in East London.

The summit brought together more than 500 developers, investors, city-shapers and thought leaders from 20 countries.
