Our Future Cities Fellowship

Remote / Hybrid in Cape Town

Our Future Cities Fellows participate in a 3 month program, supporting and working on  our projects, utilising their experience, skills or networks. They are embedded in one or more projects and programmes with the goal of enhancing or scaling their impact, by leveraging their particular insights and background.

This may involve working closely with our CEO, Rashiq Fataar, and may require on-site and in-person involvement.

*The first iteration of the program will require Fellows to be based in Cape Town, but future iterations may include other cities.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to any practitioner who has 5-10 years' working experience (outside of academia) within the urbanism, cities or built environment fields and would be keen to support the impact and reach of our work while learning and enriching their careers in the process.

You may be particularly interested in particular sectors, for example public space projects, affordable housing or walkability but may also wish to extend your skills in communication and media, graphic design and stakeholder engagement.

What it entails:

  • A 3 month commitment
  • 8-12 hours a week
  • Hybrid working in Cape Town (In-person and Remote work required)
  • Meeting partners and clients and potentially industry leaders
  • Domestic travel if required

Specific types of work may include:

  • Research (desktop or other)
  • Data analysis
  • Site analysis
  • Producing content, memos or articles
  • Design analysis
  • Creating presentations
  • Stakeholder engagement

We provide a stipend of ZAR 40,000.
